So, hey y’all. I’m Ri, aka the Music Savvy Mom.
I’ve got this lil’ blog based on the premise that Moms need not listen to Barney and the Wiggles just because they’ve procreated. That’s how it started, anyway…
I tend to ramble, so now we’re all over the place. The founding theory, however, is still valid:
If you loved music BEFORE you became a Mom, you should still be able to rock NOW, right?
It’s been a year that I’ve had Music Savvy Mom rolling, and we’ve had a blast. Playlists, artist interviews, silliness, snarky comments and a real feeling of community can be found over there. But, I have to admit…not tons of musical diversity.
Now, now – I try, I really, really do. But, can I be honest here? I would invite you to drill directly INTO my eardrums rather than ask me to listen to Electronica, and I can live in blissful happiness for the rest of my days without hearing anymore Gangsta Rap. This, I am discovering, is SO not fair to folks who enjoy those things. And I was beginning to feel guilty for not enthusiastically providing them.
So…I got thinking and realized that I have friends. Friends who have very eclectic musical tastes, but the same LOVE for music that I have. Friends who, coincidentally, blog…and who do it very well! And really…what’s more fun that sitting around with your girlfriends jamming and being silly? (that was rhetorical, people…)
Anyway, on a night of sheer genius and divine inspiration, I invited a whole bunch of buds to join me here at The Music Mamas. I also coerced John over at HellaSound into designing this awesome, custom theme for us. I dunno what I was drinking that night way back in September of 09, but it must have been some powerful stuff, because they all said yes!
The premise is similar to what’s going on at Music Savvy Mom, but now you’ll get to hear a wider range of music, read posts with different writing styles from folks with totally different perspectives…and generally “mix things up” more! Now, I’ll still be doing my thing over at MSM, too, so keep visiting me there…if you like that sort of thing.
But now you Music Lovin’ Mamas (and Papas. And even you Non-Breeders) have options!
