I take out of the house; Nike’s laced up, hair pulled back, iPod affixed on my arm, my ear-buds in. Off I go, hitting the pavement, digging deep to go farther each time, and to reach my goal. I am a new runner, but an old lover of music. I know the power of the beat so I use it to my advantage.
Here’s what I have, that I love:
1.) All My Life by Foo Fighters
2.) Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
3.) Cornbread by Dave Matthews Band
4.) Dirt Off Your Shoulders by Jay Z
5.) Express Yourself by Madonna
6.) Get Your Freak On by Missy Elliot
7.) Headstrong by Trapt
8.) Wicked by Ice Cube
9.) Flood by Jars of Clay
10.) Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters
11.) Whenever Where-ever by Shakira
12.) Sin Wagon by Dixie Chicks
13.) Vogue by Madonna
14.) Hot In Here by Nelly
15.) Iris by Live

I don’t run (old lady knees) but I do spend time on the elliptical, and I like some furious music to keep me moving. Two faves are “Enemy” by Sevendust (which is how I look at the elliptical) and “Beautiful People” by Marilyn Manson.

I’ve never heard of Sevendust. Must look into!

The artists most frequently appearing in my playlist are Jay-Z, Beyonce (her older stuff is faster), System of a Down, Linkin Park and Black Eyed Peas with a little T.I., Rhianna, and Kanye thrown in.
I run better to hip hop!! LOL
