Once upon a time, in a land far far away....a little girl was born.....to rock. Her father named her after a KISS song, she knew the words to "Stairway to Heaven" before she knew the alphabet and she was a huge Kinks fan by age six. Later in the little rockers teen years, her mother used Kenny & Dolly's Christmas Deluxe as punishment (she would start blaring it at 6am, singing along, loudly, all while demanding that the little rocker get her hungover bum out of bed and start scrubbing toilets.) George Jones was also in the rockers arsenal. The little rocker rebelled by blasting Dr. Dre, Snoop and TuPac. The little rocker was a sucker for a thug and some gangsta rap. Fast forward (not far, mostly fast) and the little rocker HAS a little rocker, a tenacious spirit and stories that make an Eminem song sound like something from Richard Marx. For every stage in life, for every story....she has a song. SHE is SingleMama CC and she is certainly Not Your Average Single Momma.

You can call me Nancy

You technically can call me Nancy but I’d prefer CC. Honestly, you can call me whatever you want just don’t call me late to dinner, bitches. It’s still me, CC. If you’ve forgotten who I am (which I doubt) there’s a bio page or something around here. Figure it out. (Obviously, I’m not the pleasant…

She will be missed

I woke up this morning to the news that Amy Winehouse had been found dead in her London home.  Although I haven’t seen any official reports as to the cause of death, as a long time fan of Winehouse (and someone who has picked her for the dead pool game the past two years), I…

Ban it? Or just shut it off….

Eminem.  Love him or hate him – he’s always making you think. The album, Recovery, was released about a year ago and in my opinion, one of his best albums in his career.  The songs on the album are raw, in your face and brutally honest….just the way I like them.  The latest Eminem video…

Thank you Mr. Lennon

His face is unforgettable. His lyrics, timeless tales as true today as they were when he wrote them. His voice, mesmerizing. His legacy, far from over. Today marks the 30th anniversary of John Lennon’s death. He’s been gone almost my entire life yet his music has impacted my life greatly. Can you imagine, if he…

CC and the CMA’s

This past week I was watching the CMA’s and was once again blown away by the power of country music. Country music isn’t the twang it used to be! It was the amazing performance from Brad Paisley (who also snagged the entertainer of the year award) that really got me thinking…

Thug life and motherhood?!

There is something about the rap of the early 90’s that makes me smile inside and out, makes me bob my head to the beat, and makes me miss you way too baggy Dickies and Puma’s….and part of me feels compelled to throw up gang signs but I manage to resist the urge. I prefer…

May I start by saying how excited I am to be the newest Music Mama? I’m going to. I am SO excited and honored to be part of this!!  This is it, my virgin post…..no pressure at all…..nervous as all get up but that’s normal for me. I had this really great post about my…
