I love music. From the time I first noticed it at my parent’s church, to my first Peter Murphy concert, it’s been a source of joy and comfort to me. But after I had children (3, to be exact) I noticed it become harder to stay connected to the music that I like. Harder to discover new bands, find time to listen to them, and balance my need for the Ramones over my kid’s clamoring for Laurie Berkner. (Don’t get me wrong, I heart me some We Are the Dinosaurs.) My husband plays bass for a touring rock band, Clutch, but I’m usually holding down the fort with the babies while he’s preaching the gospel of Rock and Roll on the road. This is where I make a conscious effort to connect with the parts of me that mattered pre-kids, and that will still be there after.
